Blue Host

Blue Host advertises themselves as an unlimited storage/unlimited bandwidth provider.  Blue host has been around since 1996 and having a Blue Host account allows unlimited domain hosting.

Blue Host costs $6.95 per month, and there are no setup fees involved unless one wants additional domains. Accounts hosted by Blue Host offer a laundry list of supported features: CGI, Ruby on Rails (ROR), PERL 5, PHP 5, Python, MySQL 5, customizable error pages, web file manager, Front Page 2002 extensions, Spam Assassin, custom cronjobs, and hotlink protection. A WYSIWYG website builder is included as are the obligatory libraries of scripts and galleries, but few people seem to use these with a few exceptions. One of those exceptions relates to the inclusion of scripts that handle basic interactions with social networking sites. This particular portion of the library is growing, and can help automate submissions and updates to social networking sites that can generate traffic.

While Blue Host charges more than the bulk of the competition, they do claim to make up for it with their customer service. This claim is somewhat common in the industry, but it seems that Blue Host might actually be a little different than the rest. One of the nicer features of Blue Host is that they allow perspective clients access a simulated ‘online live demo’ account prior to buying a package. This is certainly a nice twist and shows a sense of salesmanship that is rarely seen these days. Such attention to a customer-oriented approach bodes well for their customer service in general.
